Queens and Goddesses

Constanza Chorus is proud to present a programme of music through the ages, all featuring female protagonists, from Queens of England to Greek and Indian Goddesses or biblical characters such as the Virgin Mary, known as the Queen of Heaven.
Originally planned for 2020, and sadly postponed by the Coronavirus pandemic, this concert has taken on a new poignancy following the recent passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Music includes Henry Purcell’s Funeral Sentences for Queen Mary, Benjamin Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia and Cecilia McDowall’s Regina Caeli.
Performed by Constanza Chorus
Conducted by Joanna Tomlinson
Gavin Roberts – piano and organ
Katherine Bicknell – flute
